Divorce in England
Divorce cases have so multiplied in England that the number of them brought before the courts in the current judicial session has reached 4,019 cases. The British government has formed a committee to inquire into the causes of this new social malady, and it found that those causes come down to the following:
1 - The husband's long stay as a conscript on the fields of battle made him like a stranger to his wife.
2 - While the husband was engaged with the army, he made the acquaintance of a woman friend and grew intimate with her.
3 - Thanks to his conscription, the husband grew used to being away from family cares and financial responsibilities, and he does not wish to return to them. And the committee attributed no cause or fault to the wives.
