Things They Say...

من أقوالهم ...

... In this corner, every month, appear the sayings of our children — the things that pass upon their lips; charming sayings that show intelligence and quickness of mind...

And in this same place appears the picture of a beautiful child in winsome poses.
We have a request of our ladies: that they not begrudge us these sayings and these lovely pictures.

1 — My little girl was putting on her clothes when suddenly she cried out in protest:
— How do you expect me, Mama, to button my buttons when they are in the back and I am in the front?

2 — I reminded my children before they left the house:
— Don't forget to thank your hostess and assure her that you had a pleasant time.
They all agreed with a nod of the head — except my little boy, who objected and said:
— I will thank her, no doubt; but I will not tell her I had a pleasant time unless that actually happened — and I don't suppose you would want me to be a little liar!!

3 — Muna came back from the neighbors' house eating a piece of candy, and her mother asked her:
— Did you ask for the piece of candy, or did your friend Jamal offer it to you?
My little girl answered:
— No, I didn't ask for it; but Jamal looked into my eyes and saw that they wanted candy, so he gave me some of his own accord!

And I once asked my little girl:
— Why is it that I see you loving "Walid" more than all your playmates?
She answered, thinking it over:
— I love him because he is strong — stronger than all the children!!
