These Wrinkles Must Go

One of the chief marks of beauty in a woman's face is its freedom from wrinkles — those lines from which hardly any face at all is ever free. Even little schoolgirls' young faces are seldom bare of faint lines across the forehead, around the eyes, and at the two sides of the mouth.

Experiment has proved that most of these wrinkles, especially those that come before their time, a woman can remove by herself, with a little will power and control of

the movements of the face.

Here, then, are some simple counsels; they will help greatly toward making your face like carved marble!..

First — look for the cause of these wrinkles. Is it a slackness in the muscles of the face, or the many movements you make with your face to express certain emotions, such as anger and pain, or your discomfort from a tight shoe? The more these are repeated, the more firmly their lines are fixed in the skin — habit being their first cause...

To remove the wrinkles from your face you must be constantly watchful, to prevent any contraction in the muscles of your face. The drawing shows you the centers of these muscles and their direction.

The more a lady succeeds in controlling these muscles by her will and her thought, and in keeping them from contracting, the more she masters these parasitic lines and is able to erase them in a short time.

The principal wrin

kles of the face fall into three regions:

1 — Across the forehead:

Their cause is the unintentional raising of the eyebrows in surprise, fear, or perplexity... To remove them we must accustom ourselves to controlling these gestures and not raising the eyebrows.

2 — Around the eyes:

Their cause is staring, thinking, tired eyes, or weak sight. They can be removed by removing the cause, and by constant attention to controlling these gestures — no scowling and no knitting of the brows. Gentle massage of these muscles helps greatly to relax them and settle them back in their original places. The massage at the corners of the eyes goes from the inside outward, against the lines,

and on the forehead from below upward — with the fingertips, and without stretching the skin...

3 — Around the mouth:

The sight of these wrinkles affects all the features of the face. The pursing and contracting of the lips cause lines and folds above the upper lip, and this sight lends the

face an ugliness. The best means of erasing these wrinkles is to accustom the muscles of the mouth to constant relaxation, by practicing before the mirror.
