Among the news from Egypt: the literary lady Mrs. Amina al-Said has submitted her resignation from the Egyptian Women's Union, owing to a dispute that arose between her and certain of the lady members. We are sorry to hear this news, for in Mrs. Amina al-Said's withdrawal from the atmosphere of the Union there is a great loss for that institution.
Also from Cairo: the governing board of the Reform League in Egypt met under the chairmanship of Dr. Haykal Pasha. Among the subjects discussed was the Egyptian woman's demand for her political rights, and for the enactment of laws to protect her as wife and mother. The board reviewed the wave of activity prevailing among the women's associations and the demands each of them is pressing to achieve. Finally it was decided to hold a congress of the Egyptian woman in November, in which all the women's associations and organizations will take part, to draw up a unified resolution to serve as a charter of the Egyptian woman's demands: political, social, and cultural. From a statement by the Honorable al-Ashmawi Pasha, he said: "If the coming legislative session should be without women representatives, he is confident that in the session that follows woman will take her place in Parliament side by side with man."

Edda today is tormented; pain overflows upon her hard face with a kind of sweetness and gentleness. Nothing remains of her famous face but two round black eyes, gleaming, which remind you always that she is of the stock of the Duce, that hard man...
Among the news from Lake Success: Mrs. Roosevelt is following with the keenest interest the women's movements now underway in the countries of the Middle East, aimed at women obtaining their political rights. She holds it necessary for woman to take part in the administration of the country, since she is the one in charge of the basic social affairs and of the first profession of all — the home and the children.
Mrs. Roosevelt also believes that granting woman the right to vote in elections tempts men and makes them take an interest in politics... for they are exceedingly eager to win the votes of the lady electors!..
Now paying a visit to the East is the beauty queen of the world, Miss Nancy Daskaska, sister of the well-known actress Yvonne De Carlo. She was elected beauty queen from among 6,000 beauty queens in Hollywood, and she will hold this title until the year 1952. Her father is Hungarian and her mother Italian.
