• The Lebanese Red Cross is displaying a remarkable activity; every day brings it a new humanitarian work.

Last month the Red Cross opened a new dispensary in the village of "Bnin" in Akkar, in the presence of a great number of ladies from Tripoli and Akkar. At the head of the delegation of the ladies of the Red Cross central committee were Mrs. de Freige, the president, and the noble lady Faiza al-Solh, wife of His Excellency the Prime Minister.

The reception was a crowded one, in which the public expressed its true understanding of the spirit of the Red Cross. The ladies' delegation took luncheon at the table of the lady wife of Bashir Bey Othman, the "Red Cross" delegate in Akkar.

Before returning to Beirut, Mrs. Faiza al-Solh opened a "bazaar" of handwork made by the refugees.

• The worthy lady Mrs. Rose Shahfa, formerly president of the Women's Union, has returned from Egypt after an absence that lasted some length of time. Women's circles welcome Mrs. Shahfa and hope that she will ever watch over the women's renaissance with the activity and devotion for which she is known.

• The worthy lady Mrs. Maliha Fadli, wife of the former chargé d'affaires of the Iraqi Legation in Lebanon, has departed for Turkey. Mrs. Maliha Fadli is one of this magazine's greatest supporters, and before leaving Lebanon she was so kind as to present the "Woman's Voice" broadcast on Radio Lebanon herself.

"The Woman's Voice," bearing this lady every esteem, wishes her and her noble husband a happy sojourn in Turkey.

• Word has come to us from "Ibadan," Nigeria, that Mrs. Evelyn Ghamra, wife of Mr. Elias Ghamra, one of our worthy emigrants in Africa, has traveled with her son Fawzi to the United States to visit her brothers, Messrs. Karim, Jamil, and Michel al-Bawari. We wish this supporter of "The Woman's Voice" a happy stay among her family and kin.

• Word has come to us from Mr. Joseph Haidar in Argentina that "The Woman's Voice" is meeting with great admiration in women's circles, and that Mrs. Adal Abdul-Malik has expressed her admiration for so refined a magazine. Mrs. Abdul-Malik is among the most cultivated of our ladies abroad; she is a woman of letters who relishes reading in the Arabic language, takes a great interest in literature, and enjoys a high and distinguished culture.

Mr. Haidar has asked of us that "The Woman's Voice" be presented in his name as a gift to this worthy lady.

• "Ahliah National College" celebrated, in the presence of a large gathering of people of merit and culture, the unveiling of a memorial plaque, hung upon one of the buildings of the college, in recognition of the services of the late great educator Boulos al-Khouli to this institution, which he served as permanent counselor for thirty full years. At this ceremony Dr. Youssef Hitti, Mr. Jirji Niqula Baz, and Mr. Aziz Kassab spoke.

The students' choir sang spiritual hymns.

• The government's gesture in honoring Mr. Farid Mudawwar, a friend of this magazine, and conferring upon him the Lebanese Order of the rank of Officer, was one of the most gracious of attentions toward the men of letters and art in this country. Mr. Mudawwar has been working in the theatrical drama for a long while, and has given the Arab stage plays that were successful and felicitous to a far degree.

Mr. Mudawwar's breast is worthy of this mark of esteem.
