The latest invention for resting lungs afflicted with tuberculosis and pneumonia is to secure complete rest for them by placing the patient inside a room of steel and glass, where the air pressure is altered according to need so that it remains equal inside and outside the lungs. The patient, in this condition, is not compelled to breathe and exert himself; and thus he rests completely and benefits from the oxygen!

The air inside this room is constantly changed without the tired tissues within the lungs being affected by the movement, so they are given the chance to rebuild themselves anew.

It is now known that these scientific rooms are very comfortable, and that patients race one another to them!

• Long ago Homer said: "Music has the power to charm the flowing of blood and stop it from running."

And modern medicine has not given up hope of using music as a moral remedy against pains and aches — especially the pains of the teeth and the pains of childbirth. Numerous experiments have been carried out, and it has been proven that certain kinds of music can lighten anxiety and spread a certain ease through the atmosphere that dispels many pains and enables a person to overcome them easily ...

The musical pieces whose use has succeeded best are: "Clair de Lune" by Debussy, "Boomi" by Hobsk, and the "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven.

• Few are the women who do not use nail polish these days, and many are those who use a special preparation as a base for the polish, so that it may last longer on the nails without spreading. This "base" has come into use lately, but it has turned out to have a harmful effect on the nails: it turns their color crimson, then white, and then the nails fall out of their own accord. It is not yet known what substance causes the nails to fall out, nor whether they are likely to grow

again. We therefore warn ladies against using this base for coloring the nails, lest something befall them whose end is not to be praised!..

1 — Is it natural for a squint to appear in a child's eyes in the first months of his life?

A — Yes. Most infants cannot focus their gaze well before the first three months. So when you notice a bit of a squint in your child's eyes at this early period of his life, do not attach great importance to it.

2 — It used to be said that showing love to our children is very harmful. Is this true?

A — Modern opinion has overturned this old theory, after it was proven that children need tenderness and love lavished upon them constantly by their parents, and that this need of theirs stands above their need for food and clothing, and that on it depends the growth of their personality in the future.

3 — Do children inherit their parents' natures?

A — The psychologists say no; but it is not easy to convince us that this is so, for nature and temperament are very often inherited by children from their parents, and we sense this from our many observations.
