A word has reached us from the president of the Orphan Girls' Home Society in Tripoli, Mrs. Iqbal Izz al-Din Zouk, in which she thanks His Excellency the Prime Minister for his encouragement and his assistance to this society in the amount of 2,500 Lebanese lira, and His Excellency the Minister of
Education for his donation of 500 lira.
Here are three scenes, taken at the literary party given by the Women's Charitable Society of Tripoli. In the first appears the society's president, the energetic Mrs. Iqbal Izz al-Din Zouk, with Mrs. Ibtihaj Kaddoura on her right and His Excellency Dr. Raif Abillama on her left.
• On the twenty-second of February, the Lebanese Arab Women's Federation met at the Military Club to elect a president and officers to serve the bureau for three years. The result was as follows: the woman of letters Mrs. Evelyne Bustros, president; Mrs. Salwa Mahmasani Moumina, vice president; Mrs. Nazik Sarkis, recording secretary; Mrs. Hassaneh Daouk, treasurer; Mrs. Husseina Freiha, secretary for domestic correspondence; and Mrs. Lama Beyhum and Miss In'am al-Saghir, for foreign correspondence.
It is worth mentioning that the elections took place in an atmosphere of calm and affection. "The Woman's Voice" congratulates the new president and the members of the bureau who have won this confidence, and hopes that under their tenure the Federation will be able to realize the broad hopes of woman in this country.
This picture shows the little girls of the Home lined up on the stage.
• The Lebanese Union Party called a meeting, held on February 9 last, at which Messrs. Obeid Issa and Jamil Jabr both spoke.
• From a letter sent by Mrs. Eva Malik, wife of Dr. Charles Malik, Lebanon's Minister Plenipotentiary in Washington, in which she said:
"The progress of 'The Woman's Voice' is clear and palpable, and I congratulate you upon it. What you few persons do in the administration and editing of this magazine is done here by dozens of persons to bring out a magazine of the kind and size of 'The Woman's Voice.' This women's magazine was one of my dreams, and the dream has come true, and it continues to advance steadily forward. God bless you and grant you ever more strength and vigor."
And the third picture shows a bouquet of children in a charming dance.
