Child Day

يوم الطفل

The Child Protection Society, attached to the Lebanese Red Cross, appointed the nineteenth of March as the date of the annual Child Day. Teams of young women and young men went about the streets and quarters, pinning badges on the chests of passers-by and placing in the collection boxes whatever the hands of the charitable would bestow. One of the airplanes circled in the sky over Beirut, scattering leaflets urging the people to take part in "Child Day" and explaining the noble aim toward which it strives — namely, the protection of homeless children against want, ignorance, and disease.
