Dear Reader

عزيزتي القارئة

...Do you know that this “Nawwar” is “the month of roses,” “the month of motherhood,” and “the month of martyrs”?

As for the roses — I am certain, my dear reader, that their beauty will flood your house with its many colors, overflowing with love and tenderness, and spreading warmth and peace through the home. So gather them in plenty...

As for motherhood, my dear — is there anything in life that equals motherhood??

Shall I summon you to the joy that no joy equals?

Shall I summon you to the love that no love equals?

And how should I summon you to that, when you know that what lies between you and this little child is something stronger than life itself... and that you are never truly in life except in the hour you are at his bedside, watching over him with your heart, your mind, and your body...

As for martyrdom — do you remember, dear reader, that thirty-four years ago, on the sixth of Nawwar, this land witnessed the heroism of a band of our men who scorned death, striking the timbers of the gallows with their necks and striking with their feet that withered face, the face of the tyrant?

And they were great...

And death was small...

Teach us the meaning of the great martyrdom once again...
