Woman as Man Sees Her

المرأة كما يراها الرجل

It is fortunate — for woman's sake and man's alike — that men's opinions as to what pleases them in a woman and what does not vary from one man to the next, and follow no fixed rule. The famous Gallup Institute conducted a general poll, from which it reached the following results on certain of the aspects man sees in woman:

* The age of marriage: What is the ideal age of marriage for a woman and for a man? The answers agreed: 21 for the woman and about 24 for the man.

* The ideal wife: What is the most important quality you would wish your wife to possess? To be a good housewife. There follow, in order, these qualities: honesty, patience, intelligence, agreeableness, and sociability.

* Brunette, blonde, or redhead: The poll proved that the brunette is far dearer to man than any other. Forty-three percent voted in her favor, 23 for the blonde, and 12 for the redhead, while 22 abstained from voting.

* Man and housework: It turned out that man does not mind helping his wife with the household chores; 62 percent of the men said they were prepared to do some of those chores, among them washing the dishes. Most of them, however, mentioned that they detest cooking.

* What catches the eye in a woman: When a man sees a woman passing by, where do his first glances go? The answer: to her face and her eyes — after that to her dress — then to her legs — and finally to her figure.

* After experience: The respondents were asked: If you could begin all over again, would you choose your present wife as your wife? Fifty-two percent answered: Certainly yes; 27 percent, perhaps; 8 percent, certainly not; and 8 percent declined to give their opinion.

* The most beautiful women: In man's opinion: Betty Grable — Ingrid Bergman — Esther Williams — Hedy Lamarr.

* Family discord: What are the matters over which husband and wife usually quarrel? Money — private personal habits — the raising of the children.

* Beauty or brains: When a man thinks of marriage, which weighs more in his eyes: a woman's beauty or her mind? The women answered: her beauty. The men, however, said: no — her mind.
