Come Now!

The Woman's Voice

ولو ! · صوت المرأة

Would you believe it, dear lady reader of "The Woman's Voice," that the virtuous newspaper "Al-Amal," bearer of the banner of the defense of woman's rights, still lives in one valley while woman's right lives in another?

This friendly paper took from the special issue of "The Woman's Voice" Mr. Salah Labaki's study of Mr. Said Akl's diwan, and did not spare so much as a single "wink" toward the source.

And yesterday it returned to the selfsame path, publishing the reportage "The Destruction of the Lebanese Village" in its entirety — God forgive us! — no: it did delete from it one sentence from which it might be understood that "The Woman's Voice" was the author of the reportage.

The matter would be easier to bear were it not that Sheikh Pierre Gemayel — who holds so lofty a place in the regard of the Lebanese Women's League — stands behind the newspaper "Al-Amal." Come now, Sheikh!
