The Silver Jubilee of Beirut College for Women

His Excellency the Minister of National Education, Emir Rashid Abi al-Lama', pins the gilded Order of Merit on the breast of President Stoltzfus.

Beirut College for Women is the highest college for girls in Lebanon; for twenty-five years it has never ceased to train the rising generation and to nourish it, alongside its academic studies, with the moral and spiritual principles it needs.

The College has gone on growing until its classes have become complete, and last year, for the first time, it granted its students the bachelor's degree in science and in arts. This year a new building was added to it, named after the College's first president, Frances Irwin.

On the fifth of November the College celebrated its silver jubilee, in a gathering that included His Excellency the Minister of National Education, men of learning and letters, and the students of the College and its graduates of all these long years. During the ceremony President Stoltzfus spoke for the administration, the woman of letters Marie Sabri for the faculty, Miss Mary Hanania for the graduates, Miss Suhad Kadri for the students, and Dr. Dodds for the Board of Trustees. Then His Excellency the Minister rose and decorated the president of the College with the Order of Merit, in appreciation of the role he has played and continues to play, and in recognition of what the College has contributed to the field of education in Lebanon. Then the Reverends George Khoury and Greenslade dedicated the new hall, and the guests went around viewing the College's buildings, its departments, and the various sides of its activity.

Bon Voyage

Mr. Jamil Elias Dunya of Tripoli and his bride, a lady of the most refined upbringing, Suhaila Habib Hitti of Shemlan, have left Lebanon by air for Venezuela. The bride and groom were both formerly students of economics at the American University of Beirut. And Mrs. Suhaila's eagerness to take up commercial affairs with her husband's esteemed brothers is no less than his own.

The Woman's Voice wishes her a happy journey and a pleasant stay in her new homeland, Caracas, and hopes that the two will remain in touch with it.
