The Old Students' Association Celebration in Homs

حفلة جمعية الطالبات القديمات بحمص

On the morning of Monday, January 1, the Old Students' Association in Homs held a splendid celebration on the occasion of its annual feast, under the patronage of His Grace Metropolitan Alexandros Jeha, and presided over by the able educator Miss Nazla Sarkis, principal of the Orthodox Girls' College school. It was a delightful celebration that gathered prominent personalities, at which speeches were delivered and patriotic anthems sung. What most stirred the admiration of those present was the little girl Huda Kabba, daughter of the late Dr. Nuri Kabba, formerly dean of the Orthodox schools in Homs: she recited some verses of poetry with rare boldness, fine diction, and cadence — which led the proprietors of the Homs newspapers to publish her picture on their front pages.
