.. And the Red Ribbons of My Bed

I came to, and something like the colors of a wine song
lay yellow on my lips,
and a haze upon me, as I rub my green eyes,
still half asleep.

And I cannot recall with whom I went off yesterday
and came back drunk,
all broken like this, and like this my dress
flung off upon the floor.

And four or five roses, a lifetime's bouquet,
newly torn apart,
and my sheets, and the red ribbons of my bed,
stained with wine.

Little Fingers ..

She of the green eyes that are all promises,
she who gathers yellow roses in the spring,
lost them among those ten little fingers,
and took to plucking them along with the buds of the roses.
