The Juvenile Recreation Committee, attached to the Lebanese Committee for Public Health, held a novel variety party in the West Hall auditorium at the American University of Beirut, on April 28 last. The party was successful to the utmost degree: the hall was packed with children and their families, and the attractive costumes and manners of fancy dress drew the admiration of those present, great and small alike. The party was attended by the wives of His Excellency the Prime Minister Hussein Bey Oueini, of His Excellency the Minister Elias al-Khoury, and of the Honorable Dr. Charles Malik. The photographers snatched picture after picture of the various dances, costumes, games, and competitions. And the party was interspersed with continuous melodious playing by the orchestra of the Preparatory School, under the direction of the artist Qadi.
After the jury had met and pronounced its verdict, Mrs. Oueini graciously presented some thirty valuable prizes to the winners, boys and girls alike. The party broke up with every tongue among those present speaking praise of the ladies in charge of this young and useful project.
