broadcloth, bazin, and unbleached calico, distributed to the poor of the quarters on various occasions. They helped the sick by paying the cost of treatments amounting in value to 8,900 Lebanese lira, and treated seven consumptives, whom they placed in the sanatorium free of charge and provided with the food and clothing they needed. They distributed 1,150 kilos of soap, 650 kilos of rice, 200 kilos of lentils, and 300 kilos of dates; they undertook themselves to pay the cost of feeding 225 persons for the duration of the war; and they gave monthly aid to families in quiet need amounting to 2,570 L.L.
This is a very brief statement indeed of the works of the League of Neighborhood Committees, which thanks all who have lent it a helping hand and contributed to the revival of its constructive projects, hoping for the continuance of kindness toward it — and God is at the aid of His servant so long as the servant is at the aid of his brother.
