Condolences on the Death of Riad Bey el-Solh

On the occasion of the great calamity that befell Lebanon in particular, and the Arab East in general, in the middle of the month — the slaying of the late lamented Riad Bey el-Solh, former Prime Minister — Mrs. Heneni Tarcha, president of the Lebanese Women's League, dispatched the following telegram to his grief-stricken widow:

To the honorable Solh family — Beirut

The Lebanese Women's League offers to the widow of His Excellency Riad Bey el-Solh, to his noble daughters, and to all the honorable Solh family its most sincere condolences and its feeling of deep sorrow at the loss of the great statesman and the great national leader, His Excellency Riad Bey el-Solh, with whose like history is sparing. May God grant him rest in His spacious paradise.

And the magazine The Woman's Voice, upon which the blow of this loss fell painfully, joins the Lebanese Women's League, in whose name it speaks, in offering its last condolences to the venerable lady Mrs. Faiza el-Solh, widow of the departed, and to his daughters, the Misses Alia, Lamia, Mona, Bahija, and Layla, hoping that after him they will be the bearers of the torch he bore.

May God envelop the great departed in His mercy, and inspire his family and his homeland with patience and consolation.
