Tomorrow's Hats

It seems that the designers of hats are now going back to relying on yesterday's models and shapes for tomorrow's designs and varieties of color in this field. That is to say, the high crown is appearing again, making women's hats look exactly like men's hats — with one slight difference, namely a ribbon that adorns them. They are worn by working women and by the women who go to the horse races. The hat may be triangular in shape, or round and cylindrical like a tarboush, with a broken brim; its general shape may even resemble a shovel, and its plaited band is adorned with some handmade trimming.

This summer, hats of light straw are much in use, with a dainty little veil; likewise a ribbon may be made to hang broad and ample at the back of the head. These shapes suit girls better than women advanced in years. They are, however, kinds and classes with which the hair is dressed in a "chignon," so long as present inclinations lean once more toward long hair. In the drawing may be seen a model that combines all the merits and conditions mentioned above. These types are worn with the "tailleur" and with formal town dresses, or also for evenings and parties if occasion requires. The experts in London's studios and its great fashion houses affirm that the coming models of these hats will sweep the field, and that the demand for them will reach its very height.
