The Wedding of Vida Raad and Kamal Shuqayr

زفاف فيدا رعد وكمال شقير

★ On September 22 last, in Ain Zhalta, the wedding was celebrated of Miss Vida Raad, daughter of the notable Tawfiq Bey Raad, to Mr. Kamal Shuqayr, one of the Lebanese residing in Alexandria. The crowning was blessed by His Grace Bishop Elia Karam and a company of the Orthodox clergy. The guests, ladies and gentlemen, whose number exceeded a thousand persons, were then invited to an evening party at the Raad family home, whose splendor was heightened by the Lebanese village color which the people of the house preserved, despite their having invited great personalities — deputies, consuls, journalists, lawyers, physicians, men of letters, and notables.

The people of the village brought to life a night out of the Thousand and One Nights, interspersed with sword-and-shield play, hida chants, and zajal.

To the two noble newlyweds go the congratulations of The Woman's Voice, and its best wishes for a life of plenty.
