• From Mr. Joseph Risha on the Gold Coast we have received the following:
During these past two years there have appeared in the society of the Mahjar the first signs of a blessed women's renaissance, one that inspires good hope and optimism. In Kumasi — on the Gold Coast — the Lebanese Women's Union was lately founded under the presidency of Mrs. Thurayya Maatouk.
Nor has the renaissance been confined to the Women's Union alone; it has embraced every side of social life and created a new patriotic spirit: from the devising of great charitable projects, to the holding of splendid Lebanese and Western entertainments, to effective cooperation with the Red Cross organization, to the collecting of donations for the poor of the mother homeland.
A school has likewise lately been founded for the teaching of the Arabic language, to instill the patriotic spirit in the hearts of the young, out of care to keep the traditions alive in the minds of the new generation, lest they be lost amid the various Western currents.
For all this, woman has earned thanks and praise, and has proved that she is worthy to carry heavy burdens. May God uphold our women who strive in the cause of good.

memorial ceremony for Lebanon's departed, the late lamented Riad Bey al-Solh, at which His Excellency Adib Bey Nahas, Lebanon's Minister Plenipotentiary, spoke, along with a number of orators, among them the delegate of The Woman's Voice, the literary lady Mrs. Suad Mouhij Sakr. They recounted the lofty standing and towering resolve that were the late departed's, and expressed the enormity of the loss, by his passing, to Lebanon and to the Arab countries one and all. Mrs. Suad appears in the picture delivering her address.
• Among the news of Damascus: the woman of letters Mrs. Salma al-Haffar al-Kuzbari was blessed last September with a baby girl, whom she named "Nada." The Woman's Voice congratulates its friend Mrs. Salma and her esteemed husband Dr. Nader al-Kuzbari on the child Nada, and wishes her a life of ease in the shelter of her generous parents.
• And among the news of Homs: Mrs. Ismat Dardari, formerly headmistress of the Marwaniyya School, has been raised to the rank of inspector of government girls' schools, in appreciation of her efforts and activity, and Miss Adiba Kabba has taken her place in the direction of the Marwaniyya School. The Woman's Voice offers Mrs. Ismat Dardari and Miss Adiba Kabba its sincere heartfelt congratulations.
