This, Madam, is a sketch of the newest developments in winter fashions as they have come to us from Paris by way of Mr. Mansur Munsif, owner of the house of "Mun Hayim for Dressmaking and Fashions."
The makers of fashion have divided into two principal camps in their new tendencies. Dior, for example,
inclines toward the long line in the dress; this long line shows itself in narrowness at the shoulders and extra fullness at the hem of the garment, which stands 33 centimeters from the floor. Dior, as you
ladies know, was the first to launch the idea of lengthening in fashion. Then there is Dini, who inclines toward the long line called the bell line, so named because the shape of the garment resembles a bell. This new tendency frees the lady from bondage to tight fashions, makes movement easier for her, and gives her added height by way of the lengthening of the clothes.
As for the color in highest favor above all others, it is either deep black or indigo navy — these two are the undisputed
kings of the season. And there are bronze green and emerald green, chestnut, and gray — these colors are preferred over the rest.
The tailleurs, it appears, fall into four kinds: 1 — A tailleur with a sleeve cut half-length and gathered at the elbow. 2 — A fitted jacket with hip panels, these panels being very long. 3 — A jacket drawn tight at the waist, with a great number of small buttons resembling boot buttons.
