If They Gave Me This Whole World

Michel Trad

لو ملكوني هَ الدني · ميشال طرّاد

If they gave me this whole world, what would I want with it?
I would sell it for the paring of a nail from your finger.
My eyes have gone blind — and may God, I pray, blind them further:
what use have I for eyes that are not gazing on you?!

Love is my provision

And so Gulnar and I would sleep,
in the bosom of this valley —

the grass my bed, and the mist a blanket,
and love my provision
