* On October 27 last, the city of Kumasi—on the Gold Coast—witnessed a great Lebanese festival: the wedding of Miss Souad Daniel Diab, of Hadath al-Jubbeh, to the engineer Victor Mahfouz, son of the notable Mr. Lutfallah Mahfouz of al-Makas...
The wedding rites were performed in St. Peter's Cathedral, in an atmosphere of ululations and rejoicing, in which all the old Lebanese traditions, dear to all our hearts, were observed.
And the bride's procession moved with a pageantry the like of which, for beauty and splendor, the Gold Coast had never seen.
After the wedding rites were completed in an atmosphere of reverence, amid flowers and incense, the bridal procession moved to the hall of the Lebanese Club, where—on this happy occasion—a great banquet was held, gathering upwards of five hundred persons.
The supervision of the guests' service, the assurance of their comfort, and the opening of the bottles of vintage drink were undertaken by a choice group of young women and young men, friends of the bride and groom; and the wedding cake
was of the utmost magnificence and beauty, to the astonishment of the invited guests.
Boxes of sugared almonds, brought in specially from Paris, were distributed...
And the bride and groom received precious gifts in an atmosphere of smiles and tears...
The wedding celebration was attended by the notables of the
Lebanese colony in Kumasi and a select company of the great men of the state and members of the local government.
The magazine The Woman's Voice, which knows the bride as one of its gracious subscribers, seizes this happy opportunity to convey to the bride and groom and to their honored families—though belatedly—its sincerest expressions of congratulation and respect.
* We are pleased to announce that one of the staff of "Dar al-Kitab," Emir Halim Albert Chehab, has been wedded to the finely bred
Miss Adal Elias Sfeir; the invitation was confined to family and close friends.
"The Woman's Voice" congratulates its friend on his blessed wedding, and wishes the bridal pair happiness and prosperity.
The newlyweds have appointed the last two Thursdays of each month as their days for receiving visitors.
* On the sixteenth of February last, festivities were held for the wedding of Emir Salim Albert Chehab — employed at the Beirut office of the Near East Arab Broadcasting Station — to the well-bred Miss Salma Farid
Chehab, at a family gathering that brought together the relatives of the two gracious newlyweds.
"The Woman's Voice" offers the Chehab family its congratulations and its heartfelt wishes for a long life clothed in honor and prosperity.
