From Our Societies, Too: The Orthodox Workshop

من جمعياتنا ايضاً المشغل الارثوذكسي

One of the committees for visits to the Union's societies went to the Orthodox Workshop to visit it at its meeting last March: Mrs. Evelyne Bustros, president of the Union, and Mrs. Anissa Najjar, its secretary. After the close of the statutory session, Mrs. Victoria Dias displayed samples of the work of the girls of the Orthodox Workshop, which were perfection itself. We asked Mrs. Dias how these works are disposed of, and she answered: orders are placed for them in advance of purchase. She has a group of girls of various communities whom she has trained — with the help of Mrs. Shams Freije, the specialist in handwork — in precision of workmanship, choosing the suitable colors for them after assigning them the required design. These girls receive good wages, and whatever money remains is spent on the society's purposes and on the service of the Orthodox Church.

We appreciate the efforts of the workers in this society, and we urge the public to encourage it, both for the service it renders to working girls on the one hand, and for the perfection, the speed, and the moderate prices with which it offers its work.
