Ibrahim Abd al-Al, and Mr. Najib al-Dahdah on the Lebanese side, and of the Honorable American Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Harold Minor, Mr. Hollis Peter, and Dr. Afif Tannous on the American side.

The party was opened by Mrs. Khaz'al, president of the Women's League, with a word suited to the occasion; she introduced the discussants and then entrusted Dr. Afif Tannous — in his capacity as the connecting link, of whom Lebanon is proud and whose learning, intelligence, and experience the American government values — with conducting the discussion, selecting the questions, and assigning the competent party to answer. Here we cannot but point to the outstanding ability and kindled intelligence displayed by Dr. Afif Tannous.

It became clear from the answers of the two sides that the understanding is mutual, the benefits many, and the projects great. Mr. Ibrahim Abd al-Al, Director

of Public Works, answered with complete clarity the questions concerning his valuable studies of the Litani project and its benefits for the generation of electric power, the irrigation of the plains, and the distribution of drinking water to all the deprived villages. At the close of the session His Excellency the Prime Minister thanked the president and the lady members for their fine conduct of this historic session, which will be the cause of increasing his faith in the Lebanese woman and his knowledge of her use of her full rights, whose speedy attainment by her is a matter of concern to him.

And I should not be doing justice if I closed the description of

this party without thanking Mr. Munah al-Rasi, who translated the official speeches of both His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Honorable American Minister Plenipotentiary with complete precision and fidelity. We hope that the good execution of these projects, by devoted men from both sides, will yield mutual benefits that help to improve the economic situation, employ those who are out of work, and strengthen the friendly relations between the American and Lebanese peoples.
