The Prayer of Peace

صلاة السلام

O God, make me an instrument for spreading peace. Where hatred reigns, let me sow the seeds of love; where injury and aggression abound, let me breathe into souls the spirit of forgiveness; where evil and godlessness reign, let me guide people to faith; where despair prevails, let me spread hope; where darkness reigns, let me spread light; and where sorrow prevails, let me scatter joy.

Grant, O my God, that I not fix my thought upon what I ought to do for the sake of others, and let me not think of their love for me; rather, make me think of my love for them.
