★ There landed at Beirut airport recently, coming from Liberia, the emigrant Lebanese countrywoman Mrs. Teddy Younes, to spend a few months in the hills of the homeland.

Our dear friend underwent a surgical operation at the American Hospital, which met with the best results at the hands of the most skillful surgeons. Mrs. Younes will leave the hospital shortly and go up to the mountains of Lebanon to recover her bodily strength and for rest and recreation. She will not return to Liberia before the end of the summer.

★ On Wednesday morning, May 6, Dr. Edma Abouchdid leaves Beirut for New York to represent Lebanon at the "First International World Congress on Sterility," whose members will exchange views on the causes of sterility and the diseases of the endocrine glands. This congress will be held between May 24 and 31 of the present month.

Dr. Abouchdid's appointment to this mission came from the board of the congress in New York, with the approval of the American University of Beirut.

She has been elected to the post of permanent national secretary for Lebanon at the congress — the only lady, among the fifty-one nations taking part in the congress, to be assigned this distinguished post — and it is likely that she will also be elected to preside over one of the committees.

After the close of the First International World Congress, Dr. Abouchdid will go on to the congress of the American Medical Association, to be held in New York between June 1 and 6, whose agenda includes discussion of obstetrics and the diseases of women. She will not return to Beirut before the middle of next June.

The Woman's Voice wishes Dr. Abouchdid a successful journey, that she may raise the name of the women of Lebanon high in the medical circles of the world.

★ At half past four on the afternoon of Saturday, April 11, the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation of the Greek Orthodox was packed with invited guests, elegance prevailing among them — they had come to attend the wedding of Miss Leila Wadih al-Boustani to Mr. Michel Klink, engineer at the Contracting and Trading Company ...

The wedding was the height of simplicity and taste, and the bride — daughter of the erudite scholar Mr. Wadih al-Boustani, author of the "Mahabharata" — looked like an enchanting houri, in her full white gown and with her bewitching smile ..

★ We have learned that Mrs. Nazek Shafiq Qaz'oun was obliged to undergo a surgical operation, the result of which was entirely successful.

The Lebanese Women's League congratulates its friend Mrs. Nazek Qaz'oun on her safe recovery and wishes her complete healing and a speedy departure from the hospital.
