* On July 31 last, the marriage of Miss Evelyne Basila to Mr. Bandali Hakim was contracted.

The guests gathered first at the bride's house in Ras Beirut, where they drank the health of the bridal couple in an atmosphere fragrant with the scents of roses and flowers; then they all proceeded to the Church of Our Lady of the Greek Orthodox, where the crowning ceremony was performed with splendor and reverence.

The bride looked charming in her spotless, flowing gown, followed by a cluster of children carrying the train of her dress, according to established custom.

After the crowning, the bridal couple received congratulations, and slipped lightly away... to Broummana, where they are spending the honeymoon.

* On the afternoon of August 1, the village of Abadiyeh saw a great throng in the garden of the Najjar family, reaching six hundred persons, who came to attend the celebration of the marriage of Miss Suad Najjar to Dr. Youssef Yahya.

The celebration was distinguished by high elegance and fine organization. What helped spread an atmosphere of joy and gladness was the absence of formality between the bridal couple and their guests, for they received the guests themselves and watched over their comfort and good cheer... As for the baskets and bouquets of lilies and roses — speak of them and fear no exaggeration! And what heightened their effect was that they stood in the midst of a verdant garden, in a climate as temperate as that of Abadiyeh...

After the honeymoon days in the mountains, the couple moved to their new home in Damascus, where they are completing the final arrangements in preparation for receiving well-wishers.

* In the past month of August the marriage was contracted of Miss Saniyya, daughter of Dr. Suleiman al-Sulaybi, to Mr. Sami, son of the merchant Faris Dagho. Their wedding took place at the Greek Catholic Archbishopric and was confined to family and close friends — to the couple and to their families, the loveliest congratulations and good wishes.
