The Child Nursery Society

جمعية حضانة الطفل

The Child Nursery Society does not confine its aim to the training, teaching, and feeding of poor children alone; it also concerns itself with holding literary, scientific, and educational lectures whose axis is the care of the child from the standpoints of health and science.

A week ago the administrative committee invited the people of Zahle to listen to the learned Dr. Ni'meh Nahou deliver a lecture on chest diseases and the means of preventing them.

The mistress of ceremonies was Mrs. Emily Nasrallah, secretary of the society. She first presented Miss Salwa Shehadeh, the person in charge of the Children's House, who spoke about the child's daily life and about the running of the Children's House. She was followed by Miss Eugenie Sayegh, treasurer of the society, who read out the society's budget for the year 1953; after her she presented Dr. Nahou, who spoke at length on the means of preventing and treating chest diseases and on how to protect our children from them .. After the close of the ceremony, booklets written by Dr. Nahou on the subject were distributed to those present.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first time in Zahle that the societies have taken an interest in medical lectures.
