• After the months of engagement — of testing, understanding, and the exploring of love... the beloved friend and colleague at Radio Lebanon, Miss Nahida Fadli, has become Mrs. Nahida Fadli al-Dajani... And she was most wise in breaking with custom and tradition by welcoming her new life without clamor and trilling cries of joy... for she realized, with her finely tuned instinct, that the din and tumult of weddings do not harmonize with the awaited moments of "honey," with their quiet rapture, their serenity, and their ease!
Our warmest heartfelt congratulations to the young bride and groom, Nahida and Ghanem... May a great love, sound in its foundations, suffice her as guide to the meadows of lasting, ever-present happiness... And may her marriage remain, for all time, a model of the ideal modern marriage!
• A group of young women of the Lebanese Kataeb has submitted a memorandum to His Excellency the President of the Republic and to the Minister of National Education, requesting that civic education be adopted as a compulsory subject in the public and private schools, so as to fuse the rising generation in a single educational crucible. The responsible authorities have promised to give the matter special attention in view of its educational importance.
The Society for the Protection of Lebanese Children, affiliated with the Lebanese Red Cross and presided over by Mrs. Malaki Haik, announces that it will celebrate "Children's Day," following its custom every year, on Sunday, April 18. Children's Day will be preceded by a radio campaign to make this day known, in which His Excellency the Minister of Education, the Marquise de Freige, Dr. Jamal Karam Harfush, Mr. Husni Jalloul, Mrs. al-Narjahan, and Mr. Raji al-Ra'i will each take part.
Here we cannot but ask: why do the institutions concerned with children not devote their spending to a single Children's Day, in which they would unite their efforts and their activity, as long as they are all working for the sake of childhood??
