• The clever Miss Lily George Juha of Bishmizzine was among those who received the B.A. degree from the American University of Beirut this year. Her field of specialization is "public administration and economics," and it is worth mentioning that she is the first girl to enter this door, which before her had been reserved for man alone!... Our congratulations and our heartfelt wishes to Miss Lily Juha and to her worthy parents, Mrs. Hélène and Dr. George...
At the office of the Lebanese Union for Child Welfare: Mrs. Zalfa Chamoun congratulates the child Elie Choueiri, winner of the drawing competition
Lily George Juha — the first girl to specialize in public administration in the Middle East
• The International Union for Child Welfare organized a competition of drawings made by primary-school pupils from all parts of the world, 2,500 drawings in number, which were exhibited in St. Louis, Missouri, in the United States. The Lebanese Union for Child Welfare was charged with collecting the drawings of the Lebanese pupils, and it chose 12 drawings for the competition.
The drawing by the pupil Elie Choueiri, which shows a fisherman casting his net in the bay of Jounieh, was among the drawings that won the first prizes. The "Sunday Post" published it, and a quarter of the prizes was set aside for the charitable aid carried on by the American child-welfare union.
On this occasion Dr. Jamal Karam Harfush, in the name of the Lebanese Union for Child Welfare, over which she presides, presented a charming prize to the gifted
pupil Elie Choueiri, aged 12, who has upheld the name of Lebanon's children in the world of drawing.
So The Woman's Voice congratulates the little artist Elie Choueiri, one of the children of the primary school of the Lebanese Women's League, and commends those who watched over the cultivation of this pupil's artistic bent.
