tribution of diplomas to the graduating class.

The ceremony was opened by the principal of the college, Mrs. Widad Cortas, with a kind word of welcome; after which three of the students — the Misses Marie Kasbaji, Yvonne Zahabiya, and Najwa Khairallah, in turn — read selections from a number of writers. The closing word fell to Dr. Jamal Karam Harfush, and it was, as ever, felicitous — a word drawn from the very heart of life. The diplomas were distributed by the Minister of National Education, Mr. Nicolas Salem.

Miss Nur Salman, recipient of the M.A. degree

She is The Woman's Voice's friend, Miss Nur Salman... Hundreds of hands applauded her the moment she mounted the platform of the American University of Beirut on the afternoon of Monday, June 29, to receive the M.A. degree in Arabic literature; and whispers of wonder ran among those present, to the effect that Miss Nur Salman may be the youngest student ever to receive this degree in the history of the university!

What pride is this for her parents, Dr. Daoud Salman and Mrs. Zahia??

"The Woman's Voice" seizes this

occasion to congratulate Miss Salman on this clear victory, and hopes that her ambition will know no bounds — that her journey will not halt at this stage, but pass beyond it to the fields of world literature, and to the doctor's degree!
