In Society

• The Zahle Child Nursery Society issued invitations, on Saturday evening, September 18, to its grand annual fête in the courtyard of the Kadri Hotel, in honor of the emigrants and under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, who graciously inaugurated the new Children's Home — the gift of the generous emigrant Mr. Najib Zalaqit. His Excellency the President donated four thousand Lebanese liras to the society in appreciation of its humane mission.

A number of artistic talents who enjoy an excellent standing in popular circles took part in enlivening this fête — such as Sabah, Tahia Carioca, Wadih El Safi, Mohammed

Salman, Nadia Chamoun, and others — and the evening was interspersed with special European numbers and delightful surprises.

The president of the Child Nursery, Dr. Antoinette Maalouf, welcomed the guests; then Mrs. Emily Nasrallah delivered a gracious word, thanking those present for the high spirit they had shown toward the ladies' project.

It is only fair to say that this fête was the very height of organization and success.
