Mrs. Olivia Kfoury Maalouf Lectures in Texas

السيدة اوليفيا كفوري المعلوف تحاضر في تكساس

• The New York newspaper "As-Sameer" said: Mrs. Olivia Kfoury Maalouf has made a long journey through the various parts of the state of Texas to deliver lectures in the American women's clubs on the renaissance of the Syrian and Lebanese woman and her influence on society.

Mrs. Olivia is the widow of the late Youssef Shadid Maalouf of (Kfar Akab), Lebanon, and resides in the city of "Paducah," Texas. She received her education at the National College in Choueifat, and added to it a wide experience in women's affairs during her residence in this country. She is well versed in the political and social developments taking place in the Arab world.

She saw it as her national duty to acquaint the American woman with the progress of the intellectual, social, and political renaissance in women's circles in the Arab world.

In every large city where she appears and speaks and answers the questions of her questioners, all of this quickly spreads through the local American papers, with appreciation and admiration. And our national duty requires that the Arab emigrants — and the laggards among them — know that the Arab woman abroad can serve her nation in American circles beyond what embassies and consulates and other official missions can do; and on this basis it behooves the governments of the Arabs, if they wish to lay their causes before the Americans, to do what Mrs. Olivia Maalouf does.

For the good-hearted American people, ever thirsty to learn of the renaissances of the other peoples with whom it has ties, desires with a sure and sincere desire to listen to free pens and free voices."
