The reception of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, Mr. Camille Chamoun, at the building of the Orphans' Home in Tripoli
• During the official visit to the North made last month by His Excellency President Camille Chamoun together with the members of his government, to inaugurate the port building and the municipal building, Mrs. Iqbal Izz al-Din Dhouq seized this opportunity and invited him to open the building of the "Orphan Girls' Home," at a charming ceremony in the course of which the honorable president delivered an address on the history of the institution and on the glorious works it has performed for deprived orphans...
Mrs. Iqbal Izz al-Din al-Dhouq is president of the Lebanese Red Cross in Tripoli and president of the Women's Charitable Society, and one of our most active ladies in the social and humanitarian fields—may God bless her zeal and that of her colleagues, and guide their steps toward every good.
• By a republican decree issued recently, the Gilded Order of the Cedar was conferred upon five persons, among them the poet Omar Abu Risha, Mr. Fouad al-Khoury, and Mrs. Emily.
Mrs. Emily has made successful forays into the story and the essay, and into championing the woman's cause... She was among the Committee of Ten that undertook the defense of woman's political rights until it attained its aims.
Perhaps the immediate reason for her decoration with the medal is her distinguished recent activity in
...the Arab Writers' Week held last month at Beit Meri, in her capacity as secretary of the Ahl al-Qalam Society, which convened this congress.
Our warmest congratulations to our dear friend Mrs. Emily...
