On the Book "Washington Paves the Roads for Moscow in the Arab Lands"

When the Arab countries came gradually to enjoy their independence, from the time of the dissolution of the Ottoman Sultanate onward, the United States of America enjoyed the confidence and the affection of the Arabs. Our people used to wish that Washington would come out of its political isolation, so that they might extend their hands to it and cooperate with it. But Washington did not come out of its isolation until after it had surrendered to Zionism, and so, for the sake of winning Jewish votes, it lost the Arabs and the Muslims.

Even so, the erudite scholar Mr. Mohammad Jamil Beyhum still distinguishes between the

American people and their rulers, and believes that the latter stand accused, there, of conspiring by their Jewish policy against the interest of their own country.

It was in this good faith that Mr. Beyhum addressed himself to the American people when he recently brought out his book "Washington Paves the Roads for Moscow in the Lands of the Arabs and the Muslims" — he addressed it to complain of its governments.

This precious volume caused a great stir in political circles. It was only natural that the American Embassy in Lebanon should give it its close attention, and that one of its senior officials should call on Mr. Beyhum at his home with

a view to justifying Washington's position on the Arab question.

This is besides the appreciation which the book's author met with from certain monarchs and leaders of the Arab states, foremost among them His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic and His Excellency the President of the Egyptian Republic, each of whom ordered that a letter of thanks be sent to the author. Major General Muhammad Naguib's letter was accompanied by his photograph.

This precious book has likewise given His Eminence Hajj Amin al-Husseini the occasion to lift the veil from his frank opinions on the subject, in a letter which he sent to Mr. Beyhum.

We congratulate Mr. Beyhum on the appreciation and the reception with which his book has been met in the highest circles.
