• Mrs. Habiba Shaaban Yakan gave a lecture at the King Saud College on the secret of her success in the field of social service. Mrs. Yakan was most felicitous, for she relied on tactful frankness in her speech, and on simplicity and truth in depicting her milieu and her environment. There is no doubt that in this there was every benefit for her listeners, men and women alike.

Social News

• Mr. Mukhtar Shamli and his wife have been blessed with a baby boy whom they named 'Imad' — the third after his siblings Fouad and Nada. The congratulations of The Woman's Voice, with wishes to the Shamli family for health and prosperity.

• On March 17, Mrs. Mona Fayyad gave a lecture at the Cénacle Libanais, in French, on the subject: 'The Personality of the Lebanese Girl.' This lecture is one link in the series the Cénacle has organized to treat 'the crisis of Lebanese youth.' Mrs. Fayyad's lecture was elegant in the clarity of its style and the manner of its delivery, rich in its matter and in the loftiness of its guidance.

Duroub

Every day a new leap forward is recorded! The bounds of its life are all activity! And today it is recorded, at the hands of budding young women, in the word 'Duroub.'

That is the name of the magazine brought out by a group of the students of Beirut College for Women, under the supervision of Miss Thurayya Malhas, teacher of Arabic literature at the College.

However our paths may branch, they lead to a single aim and toward a distant mark: they are a yearning and a striving after the ideal — toward the realization of our being.

The Woman's Voice wishes for every girl that she take the road of 'Duroub' — a road of uprightness and free movement, of hopefulness and unity — leaving behind an echo that the days will record for her!

Child Day and Mrs. Habiba Shaaban Yakan's Lecture

• 'Child Day' fell on the twentieth of last March, and the Lebanese Child-Welfare Society ushered it in with a full program over Radio Lebanon, as it does every year. The participation of the embassies of the sister Arab countries in the radio week had the pleasantest effect upon the listeners. As for the National Revival Committee at the American University — that committee which gathers the pick of our young men and young women — it kindly answered the society's request and held its annual exhibition devoted to 'child care' in the same week, opening it with a brilliant party under the patronage of the First Lady of Lebanon, who graciously distributed the gifts with her own hands to the society's children and to the mothers who come faithfully to the health guidance center.

The Woman's Voice, in congratulating our friend Mrs. Zahia Salman and all who took part in child week upon their zeal and their activity in the cause of childhood and motherhood, hopes that this annual day has achieved the good results desired — material and moral alike.
