With the passing of last month, the magazine The Woman's Voice completed its ten years, during which it went on appearing regularly, despite the crises that stood in its path and nearly destroyed it — yet it was able, thanks to its tireless struggle, and thanks to the deep faith that fills the hearts of those in charge of it, to overcome and to triumph, preserving this elegant appearance robed in serenity and confidence!
From its founding until today, The Woman's Voice has passed through several phases, yet it has kept its authentic traditional character. It has been woman's torch, lighting the straight path before her and carrying to her the message of knowledge and wisdom, striving, in sincerity, to place in its readers' hands every wholesome and agreeable material, without inclining to any extreme, or favoring one group of people over another.
We have tried — and I do not say we have wholly succeeded — to make of this magazine a mission: a means of education and a messenger of good to every woman, not in Lebanon alone, but in the whole world of the Arabs. And how it has pained us, the meagerness of the response between us and our sisters in the Arab countries — were it not for a blessed handful who championed their magazine, and champion it still, discerning in it some of the elements of goodness and beauty, woman's two pillars in every age.
So, my sister reader: we realize, with neither pretension nor boasting, that your magazine still falls short of the perfection we seek for it; yet we believe with certainty that steady, positive endeavor will bring us at last to what we want — through the joining of efforts, and through every reader's feeling that her magazine has a claim upon her care and attention... Write us your opinion, and be assured that we give weight to every sound opinion that shows itself in fairness and sincerity.
How welcome would be a gesture from every reader, showing the depth of her zeal and her love for this magazine which was created for one purpose alone: to serve woman, to raise her voice, and to strengthen her word...
We are with you, my sister woman, marching forward hand in hand, our guides resolve and smiling hope..
