In the world of childhood:

The Art of Cooking... for the Little Ones

"Who said the kitchen is for woman and no one else?"

So say these pupils, whose ages run between nine and twelve. Their classes take in pupils of both sexes, and are held during the school holidays in Louisville, Kentucky.

Eagerly the pupils flock to the class, and there is no doubt that the best part of the class is the eating hour.

Making cake is fun, even though it is work of some importance; thus the little ones join forces to turn out the "Mama" cake

They often need help; the instructress tries, pleading, to persuade the little one to change his plan.

Everyone must carry out the fascinating test... the batter did not stick to the straw — so is the cake done?

What merriment lights up these innocent faces! How good it tastes!

At last the cake is in Mama's hands! The little cook presents it!
