And in all she wrote, through all the phases of her life, Salma was never anything but a mother — and she never examined the questions of existence except through the microscope of motherhood.

This is a brief glimpse of Edouard Honein's lecture on Salma Sayegh, and I have nothing to debate in its opinions and theories, since I have not had the chance to acquaint myself sufficiently with the writer's works. But I acknowl-edge and admire his rhetorical eloquence and the ornamental colors with which he embroidered words and meanings, so that he reached the summit of felicity that
