The Artist Youssef Howayek's Commemorative Statue

• At the exhibition of painting and sculpture organized by the Ministry of National Education, the visitors asked: why does the exhibition, for all the treasures it holds, lack a single work of art by the elder of our sculptors, Mr. Youssef Howayek? And the answer came that our artist is in his seclusion at Baawerta, where he carves as he pleases and tends his apples and his pears...

But the Commissariat of Tourism and Summering did not wish the Emigrants' Summer to pass without the brethren carrying home with them, on their return, a small memento; so it adopted a charming piece by the artist Youssef Howayek representing, as it appears in the picture above, the figure of a Lebanese girl of the age gone by, wearing the tantour... The specialist expert Mr. Kamil Anid succeeded in casting it at his workshop in red Lebanese clay, and the Commissariat undertook to present it as a gift to the emigrant brethren, and also placed a quantity of it on the market for whoever wishes to keep it as a memento of this happy occasion.

The Two Photographs from the Children's Party at the Ahram Hotel

• In the last issue, on pages 48–49, there appeared an article by the writer Mrs. Asma Tubi describing the "children's party" to which the Ahram Hotel in Beit Mery had issued invitations. For technical reasons, two photographs were left out, showing two little girls who won prizes for dancing and for costume.

In this issue we return to publish these two photographs, in deference to the wish of our friend, the author of the article.
