Brigitte Najim — and the Return of Mrs. Wadad Cortas

Even autumnal November is not without buds, for from among them dawned sweet "Brigitte," firstborn of our friend Ninette, wife of Mr. Elie Najim, who is in charge of Arabic music at Radio Lebanon.

The birth took place in Paris on the forenoon of the twelfth of the month, and it was a great joy in the family circles, no less than the joy over "a boy." The house of Najim overflowed for the better part of a month with cups of the traditional "mughli," and the telephone wires carried the description of "Brigitte": she has her father's wide eyes and his hair, and her mother's finer chin — and her ears!

It remains for Ninette to return with baby "Brigitte" from her mother's in Paris to her house in Beirut, where Elie awaits her in boredom and short temper, to make the acquaintance of his little girl and to feel that he has become a father in truth!

To the family of Najim the deepest congratulations, and wishes for a troop of brothers and sisters for little, soft "Brigitte"!!

• With the appearance of December

there returned to

Lebanon Mrs. Wadad Cortas, president of the Ahliah girls' college, from a journey to the United States of America that lasted a month, which the great educator spent among the various universities and women's institutions in Cleveland, Ohio, and in Philadelphia; and she lectured

at two women's conferences, at the invitation of the American women's institutions.

We have learned that the subject of Mrs. Cortas's talks dealt with the questions of the Arab countries, at their head the Palestine question.

Welcome home, then, to Mrs. Cortas!
