From the Mailbag of The Woman's Voice

We have received a charming letter from one of our subscribers, Mrs. Zubaida al-Jundi, president of the Child Welfare Association in Homs, expressing her admiration for the progress "The Woman's Voice" is making, issue after issue, and pronouncing it the only women's magazine in the Arab world that treats women's affairs with breadth and sincerity.

Mrs. Zubaida proposes that the magazine should have "active" correspondents in all the Arab cities and countries, to supply it with news of women's intellectual activity.

The Editors: We thank the president of the Child Welfare Association for her charming letter and her sound proposals. It has always been our wish to succeed in finding correspondents in every Arab country, to serve as the link between us and the readers, so that this magazine may become "the voice of every woman" in the Arab lands...

We take this opportunity to ask our readers for news of such of their activities as deserve mention, to be sent in good time to the

management, together with the necessary photographs.

2 — And a Letter from Argentina

And here is a letter that has come to us from our correspondent in Buenos Aires (Argentina), telling us that a select company of ladies of Hama, headed by Mrs. Najiba Nasrallah Abboud, held at the beginning of last October, in the halls of the Homs Club in the Argentine capital, a charity bazaar whose proceeds go toward the orphanage project in Hama. The affair met with dazzling success, thanks to the high spirit and great energy with which the members of the association worked.

Mrs. Souad Morhej Saqr

The affair was opened, in the association's name, by Mrs. Souad Morhej Saqr, with a speech in which she spoke of the importance of this project, and of the solidarity among the Arab colonies and their support of every humane work. Among the things Mrs. Saqr said:

"In this gathering of ours — united and drawn together in heart by more than one common aim — we have come to be, with our hearts and all our being, a hand that works, a hand that builds, a hand

that brings to life a human oasis, however small; it is enough that it be an oasis, and that a breath of humanity envelop it, a refuge for those whom orphanhood has laid low.

In answering the call of human sympathy, we find ourselves bound by a feeling that unites and joins the part that stayed at home and the part that emigrated; and so hands stretch out, clasping and meeting, upon the ground of love, of brotherhood, and of the service of the common good."

Hardly had this speech ended when the donations came pouring in, and those present pressed forward to buy the goods on display and to take part in the raffle and the auction, all contributing to the success of the affair, which ended at a late hour of the night with everyone happy and rejoicing in a humane work they had championed.
