1. It is the morning of Christmas Day, and they are all rushing to meet their grandfather and grandmother, who come bearing gifts for them.

2. Great was the delight of Sami and Layla

when their eyes fell upon a toy automobile and a toy carriage.

3. The day of the feast — how sweet it is, and

there is nothing like it. Sami's joy was great, while Layla stood before the Christmas tree, amazed at the twinkling lights.

4. And their mother, Suad, watches over her

children's health, and when they grow tired she sends them off to sleep at the appointed time.
