In a small family ceremony, on July 29 last, the wedding of Miss Emily Abi Rashed to Dr. Philip Wadih Nasrallah took place at the Greek Orthodox church of Mar Girgis in Bhamdoun.
The rites of the crowning were performed in reverent quiet, and the ceremony was distinguished by simplicity, order, and arrangement. Our slender bride, with her delicate smile and her splendid white gown of surpassing beauty, made by Nihad Wardini, seemed the lily of all the lilies arrayed in the sanctuary...
Lips, eyes, and hearts cheered the two young newlyweds... and prayers were murmured fervently for her complete happiness. After the crowning, Emily flew off with Philip to Europe, to spend the honeymoon amid the Italian, Greek, and Turkish countryside.
"The Woman's Voice" wishes its two friends, the bride and groom, that good fortune, success, and felicity may accompany them throughout a long life... and extends its sincerest congratulations to the honorable Nasrallah and Abi Rashed families. (See the Cover Picture.)
We have said it more than once: in the person of Dr. Salwa Nassar, Lebanon possesses a scientific treasure without equal. And today she gives fresh proof of our words by representing Lebanon at the conference on the use of radioactive materials in scientific research.
This conference will be held in Paris under the auspices of UNESCO, between the 8th and the 21st of September next. The preparations appear to be immense, and more than a thousand scientists from all parts of the world are
expected to take part. Dr. Salwa Nassar has promised to favor "The Woman's Voice," soon after her return to her work at the American
University of Beirut at the end of September, with a talk on the results of the research.
