The researcher and historian Mr. Jamil Beyhum has returned to Beirut to resume his literary activity. The journey began at the first of last September with a visit to Europe, then to Russia — Leningrad, and Baku in Azerbaijan — at the invitation of the cultural institution in Moscow, to study conditions there: something that helps the great historian and gives him a sound idea of matters that have remained obscure in the heads of many.
Mr. Beyhum now has in hand three books which he will shortly be sending to the presses.
After his visit to Moscow, Mr. Beyhum was invited to Peking to attend the second anniversary of the people's revolution; he toured throughout China as far as Shanghai, and admired the marks of the social and artistic renaissance prevailing throughout China generally... He considered this long journey of his a precious study, and the greatest aid to him in completing his works.
On the 17th of last November, Mrs. Nabila Saab Droubi, wife of Dr. Alaeddin Droubi, gave birth to a baby boy, who was given the name "Khaldoun."
The birth took place at the hospital of Dr. Mustafa Khalidi, and the mother has returned home with her newborn, both enjoying perfect health, while the kitchen bustled with the making of the traditional "mughli" to welcome the child. Baby Khaldoun is fair-haired, and everyone's joy in him was great — above all his grandparents, Najla and Salim Saab, and above all his little brother and sister, Subhi and Najla! Welcome to Khaldoun, and our congratulations to the parents and the family.
