The Musical Recitals of the Ras Beirut Institute of Music and Painting

الحفلات الموسيقية لمعهد رأس بيروت للموسيقى والرسم

We are among those who appreciate and encourage this musical renaissance which in recent years has begun to find its way into our homes and to our children by way of the music institutes — foremost among them the "Ras Beirut Institute" of its proprietor Mr. Sami Salibi.

And in this "moral upheaval" that today threatens our society and our family — and what we fear for most is the future of our children and their being swept away in this corrupt current — the surest recourse for aiding the young generation and protecting it from sliding after vice is to impel them, and to direct their energy, into constructive paths that develop their personalities and help them to plant these firmly along the strong ways that accord with our traditions and our high ideals — and that keep pace with our conception of character!

The Ras Beirut Institute of Music and Painting is perhaps a living manifestation of this direction I mean, by way of the musical recitals to which the Institute invites guests every Sunday afternoon, at which the students, young and old, play on the various musical instruments for their families and friends, in complete freedom and delight — the playing followed by a party of refreshments and sweets, prepared by the players themselves, to make a friendly family atmosphere in which young and old play without timidity or dread, feeling that this work is part of their responsibility.

"The Woman's Voice," which accompanies this Institute with a devoted eye, congratulates Mr. Sami Salibi on the services he renders to the young generation and to society, in the cause of a genuine artistic renaissance that embraces every home and turns the minds and energies of youth toward sound building.
