Brief remarks were made by Mrs. Eva Malik, by the hostess Mrs. Janet Hitti, and by Miss Leila Shaheen, president of the publicity committee, on the purpose of this gathering — namely, the cooperation of all the women's press bodies together to make a success of the financial campaign, which aims to collect one million liras with which a building housing all the departments of the association is to be erected — all of it in the service of the rising generation and of young women, and to ease their entry into a dignified, independent working life...

Then the women journalists asked the officers of the Young Women's Christian Association

to clarify whatever had escaped their understanding, and pam-phlets and photographs were distributed, giving the cause still more light and understanding...

In mid-January, too, appeared the first issue of the maga-zine "Risalat al-Jami'iyat" ("The University Women's Message"), the organ of the "University Women's Union."

The magazine is a periodical — that is, it appears every three months. Its editor-in-chief is the president of the "University Women's Union," Dr. Zahia Kaddoura, assisted in the editing by a distinguished elite of the association's members, each in her own field of specialization, in pursuit of a better Arab society.

"Risalat al-Jami'iyat" is a com-mendable endeavor that testifies to activity and to faith in the

mission which the members of the University Women's Union have volunteered to strengthen and to spread as far as they are able. Perhaps the greatest credit for its production belongs to the great effort expended by the editorial secretary, Miss Majida Attar...

During the past month Mrs. Fawz, wife of Mr. Emile Hilli, gave birth to a baby boy whom they have named "Kamal" — the third after their two children, Fadi and Nada.

The birth took place at the American Hospital at the hands of Dr. Ibrahim Moufarrej, and mother and child are enjoying perfect health.

"The Woman's Voice" offers its congratulations on the safe delivery, and wishes little Kamal and his brother and sister health and long life.
