brotherhood among the sister Arab peoples.
Then Mrs. Rameshwari Nehru, head of the delegation of India, rose and thanked the Syrian Women's Union for its invitation, saying it was a gracious gesture that the Syrian woman should be the first to welcome the delegations in Damascus. She then spoke of the Solidarity Conference and the services it rendered to the causes of the Asian and African peoples, and
pointed to the valuable contribution the Arab woman makes in defending the rights of other peoples, and to her continuous struggle to make firm the foundations of peace in the world.
And to the strains of sweet music the guests gathered round the tables, laden with dishes of sweets and baskets of fruit, making acquaintance and conversing.
In memory of Salwa Mahmasani Moumina, from the Woman's Corner on Radio Lebanon — Mrs. Edvick Shayboub, who supervises the "Woman's Corner" on Radio Lebanon, devoted the Sunday program of January 26 to the memory of our dear departed Salwa Mahmasani Moumina. Taking part with her were Mr. George Baz, the champion of woman, Mr. Wasif Baroudi, and the two ladies Heneni Tarcha, president of the Lebanese Women's League, and Anbara Salam Khalidi. The program thus came, like this issue, expressive and sincere in its feeling.
And the League of Women's Organizations to eulogize Salwa: The League of Women's Organizations, which brings together all the women's institutions in Lebanon — more than a hundred of them — is preparing to hold a great memorial gathering on the fifth of this February in the hall of the Ministry of Education — the Chartouni Building.
The program comprises the following:
1 — Address by the president, Mrs. Laure Georges Tabet.
2 — Address of the Lebanese League of Women's Organizations, delivered by Mrs. Ellen Rihan.
3 — Address of the Society of Ladies and Alumnae of the Islamic Makassed and of the League of Neighborhood Committees, by Miss Zahiyah Dughan, directress of the Makassed College for Girls.
4 — Address of the Lebanese Women's League, delivered by Mrs. Najla Kfoury.
5 — Address by Mrs. Widad Sakakini al-Mahasini.
6 — Address of the Aziziyya School, of which she was one of the founders, delivered by one of the students.
7 — Address of the departed's family, delivered by her sister Miss Ihsan Mahmasani, directress of the Children's House of the Islamic Makassed.
