The vice-president of the American University of Beirut, Mr. Fuad Sarruf, has left for the United States on a leave of six months, accompanied by his wife.
Before leaving Beirut late last February, he completed the necessary arrangements required for the conduct of the office's business during his absence.
Mr. Sarruf is known for his creative activity of mind: besides his extensive work at the University, he brings out, on the average, one book every six months, gathering in it the rich fruits of his thought — the most splendid of gifts to Arabic letters.
It is hoped, moreover, that the magazine "al-Muqtataf" will return
to publication through the energy of its former editor-in-chief, Mr. Sarruf; continuous efforts are under way to close this scientific and literary gap left by al-Muqtataf's disappearance throughout the past years.
Edvick Jureidini Shayboub is preparing to travel to Aleppo in response to an invitation from the director of the National Library there, to take part in the activities of this year's cultural season. We have learned that the editor-in-chief of this magazine
will lecture on her own particular subject, analyzing "the reality of the Lebanese woman and what is hoped of her," through her personal observations and experience, for she has accompanied the Lebanese woman at close quarters these last ten years and felt out her points of strength and her points of weakness alike.
The lecturer's success in her mission may be reckoned in advance, in view of the boldness and self-confidence for which she is known, and in view of her sincerity and patriotism. We wish her success and a speedy return to her many labors at The Woman's Voice and at "The Woman's Corner" on Radio Lebanon, which she supervises and presents herself every Friday morning at half past nine.
Klim... the whole milk that wise mothers choose
"Klim" is whole milk with all its nutritive elements — only the water has been removed from it. It is no wonder, then, that mothers insist on it for nourishing their families. "Klim" contains all the elements of nutrition that nature has placed in fresh milk to fortify the health of the little ones and strengthen their bodies. Mothers rely on it, and it is packed in sealed metal tins that keep it pure and fresh.
